Whoa, Canada!

And we’re back. I get that it seems odd that a newspaper shuts down for a two-week holiday – but with a full-time staff of one (me) and an amazing team of contributors, it really is the only way to get a much-needed break.

It’s hard to believe that this week marks three years since Ted and I bought the Orono Weekly Times. August 15. 2018 was our first publication. These past three years have flown by and looking back I have loved every minute. That’s not to say there hasn’t been ‘trying times’, but when you are a part of an amazing supportive community, they are few.

Two words – Whoa, Canada.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics have come to a close and Canada captured an impressive haul of 24 medals coming in 11th overall, with our female athletes bringing home the most hardware. This included a stellar Gold Medal performance by the Canadian Women’s Soccer team. The win even more exciting for Clarington with local athlete Allysa Chapman on the team.
