I always look forward to the two very necessary breaks I get each year. These moments allow me to reconnect with my family, recharge, and gather fresh perspectives that often find their way into the pages of our publication. This summer was no different—or so I thought.
We had planned a journey to Charlottetown to visit family. It was a trip we take often and had eagerly anticipated. The route was mapped, the car was packed, and the spirit of adventure was high. The 1,616 km journey from our home promised scenic drives, laughter-filled pit stops, and the warm embrace of loved ones waiting at the other end.
Everything was going according to plan. We were 1,014 km into the trip, stopping for the night in New Brunswick. Suddenly, the tranquility was shattered by an unexpected medical emergency. As we navigated this medical emergency, I found solace in the resilience of my family.
