Time to get to work

The first meeting of our new council took place on Monday. No business other than designating council liaisons to departments and appointing the deputy mayor took place. It was a ceremonial meeting swearing in the 2022 to 2026 council of the Municipality of Clarington.

Council-Elect Mayor Adrian Foster; Regional Councillors Granville Anderson Wards 1&2 and Willie Woo Wards 3&4; and, Local Councillors Sami Elhajjeh Ward 1; Lloyd Rang Ward 2; Corinna Traill Ward 3; and Margaret Zwart Ward 4, were all sworn in by Municipal Clerk Jane Gallagher, municipal clerk after a Smudging Ceremony conducted by Kim Wheatley, Anishinaabe Cultural Consultant and Traditional Knowledge Keeper.

It was a beautiful ceremony. During a Smudging Ceremony we meet with a good heart, so we can make good decisions.
