They walked so today’s women could run

Canadian women continue to be under-represented in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields. Stats Canada reported in 2010 that 44 per cent of those entering university in the STEM fields were women, with the lowest representation being in mathematics, physical and chemical sciences and engineering. Of the young women who entered STEM studies, only 66 per cent remained in the stream through to graduation.
