My fascination with birds and all wildlife in general started in the early 50’s. Then, in the 80’s my wonder-turned- love affair with the Canadian Arctic began. Having been keen to read books about Arctic wildlife I made my first foray towards that destination in 1983 by spending the summer with my field companion Bruno Kern on the edge of the Arc-tic in Churchill, Manitoba. I returned for 5 more summers in addition to a few winter weeks over an eight-year period to photograph Polar Bears as I had been hired by an eco-tour company to lead field trips and to do so.
