‘Shades of Green’ in the Urban Environment

What was once an aerial view of gray roofs, is now be-ginning to look more like a (sea) of green spaces. The current growth of urbanization has caused natural ecosystems to be altered, as a result, temperatures in the cities are higher than in rural environments. It is time to take into consideration the way we plan, build, and live in urban environments to help mitigate the phenomenon known as the urban heat island effect.
