Last year’s Car Show in downtown Orono was such a success that this year it is More Than a Car Show and it is taking over the fair grounds.
Hospice gets extra acre
One of the last official acts of this term of council was to grant Durham Hospice – Clarington, the additional acre of land they were looking for.

That's a wrap
Council chambers will be quiet for a couple months, as we – the residents of Clarington, choose who will serve and act in our best interest until 2022. Monday night’s meeting was long, as loose ends were tied and what couldn’t be resolved will be the concern of the newly elected on October 22.
It was a very full agenda – so full the meeting went past midnight. I confess I left at 11:45 p.m. as council went in camera to discuss a proposed acquisition of land, an item in the Planning and Development Committee Report to Council.
What fascinated me about this meeting was the democratic process. There was a very heated topic on the agenda – the possibility of a by-law passed to protect consumers of unapproved residential real estate. As a consumer this sounds like a pretty good thing – right?
