Rebuilding communities’ social support fabric

It doesn’t matter the size of your community; the pandemic has affected the financial and human health of our organizations. Seven in 10 charities report lower revenues. As a whole, the sector has had to lay off 84,000 full and part-time staff in Canada as a result.

The Ontario Nonprofit Network (ONN)’s new report reveals that Ontario’s 58,000 nonprofits and charities across the province are facing a triple threat as a result of COVID-19. Organizations have and will continue to lose revenue from the cancellation of fundraising events and a drop-off of donations. While they cope with the closure of offices and cancellation of programs and services due to pandemic restrictions, they face unprecedented human resource challenges with paid staff and volunteers.
