Captain Tillson “over and out”

Five years ago Norm Tillson fought the “60 years and out policy” and got dispensation from Clarington council to stay on the Orono fire department for an extra 5 years. That five years is up and on October 31, at the age of 65, Captain Norm Tillson officially retired.

Think before you post
No doubt by now you have all heard the horrific story of Brett Corbett, a Nova Scotia teenager living with cerebral palsy who said he was walked on while lying face down in a stream on Wednesday, November 7 — no one helped. Classmates stood by, watched and of course, posted it on social media.
What kind of human being thinks this is ok?
Over the weekend, I read that a few of the participants apologised to Brett. A couple offered the excuse that they thought he was a willing participant. Through tears, a father of one of the students apologized to Brett and to his family.
Whatever name you give it - cyberbullying, cyberstalking, trolling, it has made people unwilling targets. Sometimes anonymous, but not always faceless. One thing is for sure, the internet gives a bully a sense of anonymity.
Kids who are cyberbullied feel an intense sense of isolation, fear, loneliness and despair. Their desperation can sometimes lead to acts of self-harm or tragically, even suicide.
