Newcastle Horticultural Society acting president Vicki Muscat was busy carrying on the tradition of beautifying the gardens located in front of the Newcastle Community Hall last Saturday. She was channeling the skills of her great friend Jeany Barrett, who had tended the urns faithfully for many years prior to her passing last fall. The NHS, which was established in 1914, will be busy in the coming months preparing the Hall grounds for the grand 100th Anniversary celebration this summer.
