Let’s get back to the table

Unless something shifts drastically in the next few days, it looks like strikes will continue until Queen’s Park resumes sitting on February 18. Stalled.

Many are calling for back-to-work legislation. Legislating teachers back to work is “the last step,” Ford said last week when he took questions from reporters at Queen’s Park. “What we really want to do is get a deal.”

Even Education Minister Stephen Lecce, has said that’s not his focus right now, and said negotiated agreements are the “best option for all the parties.”

But what neither Ford or Lecce has mentioned – imposing back-to-work legislation now would not likely stand up in court.
