Hold the rinse
Bio-cremation services at Newcastle Funeral Home have been suspended. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) have suspended the facility’s crematorium operator licence following an unannounced inspection. The suspension was effective as of June 22, 2018.
Round and round problem intersection

While summer officially began a few weeks ago, it is now that school is out, that our thoughts turn to that warmest of seasons. With the current heat wave we are experiencing, one wonders how much learning would have happened in the classroom if school was still in session. Most of our schools are not air conditioned, and classrooms can become unbearably hot when temperatures outside soar to the 30 degree Celsius range.
Last week students walked out of the Kirby school doors for the last time. Provided the redevelopment of the Orono Public School stays on its current schedule, Kirby and Orono students will attend that school in September.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board closed Kirby Centennial School last June due to declining enrollment. The plan at that time was to have Orono and Kirby students attend the Kirby campus until March of this year to allow for redevelopment of the Orono school. The March deadline came and went as construction did not start until January of this year. Delay in awarding the over $2.6 million contract to redevelop the Orono school including the addition of three new classrooms was attributed to finalization of funding for the project from the Ministry of Education.
