On March 4 members of the local Durham Region Cornish Society raised the Cornish Flag for St. Piran’s Day, celebrated on March 5, honouring the patron saint of tin miners. The black represents the black earth and the silver represents the tin. Each year the society raises the St. Piran flag at the Clarington Administrative Building in Bowmanville.
