Orono resident Ken Sabo made his 100th blood donation on Saturday at the Harmony Road, North, Oshawa location. It was almost 45 years ago. “I was in high school, signed up to get out of math class. So, I was 17, I guess. I thought it was a good thing, serving mankind and helping people that need blood. I’ve given back in the day with Red Cross. I re-member really early days on army cots on Elizabeth Street and college.” Canadian Blood Services are responsible for the blood supply in Canada. Many variables can impact the inventory such as weather, holidays or tragic events. Blood inventories range from 14 days to 6 days. Donors are need-ed everyday.
