The Fourth Line Theatre in Millbrook will open the season with, The Tilco Strike, a play by author D’arcy Jennings, and directed by Cynthia Ashperger. The play chronicles the strike at the Tilco plastics plant in Peterborough in 1965-66. The workers at the plant became fed up with the low wages and constant harassment from the bosses. This strike is important to note because it led to changes in the injunction laws in Ontario. The labour movement was, until that era, dominated by men. One of the changes in the sixties was the entrance of more women in the workforce. The Tilco Strike shows some of the impact that had on the labour movement.
