In 1947, Canadian Parliament first proclaimed the week of April 10 as National Wildlife Week. The week coincides with the birthday of Jack Miner, who is largely credited as being the “Father of Conservation”. Miner, also referred to as “Wild Goose Jack” was integral to helping the Canada Goose population recover after nearing extinction. Today, 75 years after the first National Wildlife Week, the number of endangered and at-risk species in our country and around the world continues to increase.
