At Monday’s council meeting the municipal budget was ratified with a 2.2% increase for 2019.

On Saturday, February 23, I had the pleasure of participating as a cast member in “Death of a Sailsman” Murder Mystery Dinner, a fundraiser for the Newcastle United Church Renovation Project. It was a lot of fun and best of all, sold out.
Also held on February 23, was the Mayor’s Gala For the Love of Art, benefiting The Gift of Art in Newcastle and the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington in Bowmanville.
Although we aren’t quite there yet, Spring is affectionately know as the “unofficial start of fundraising season”. Community fundraising is a fun way to raise awareness and much needed funds for local causes.
Shrove Tuesday is next week. There are lots of opportunities to feast on pancakes while supporting the Kendal Lions Club, St. Saviour’s Anglican Church, in Orono, and St. George’s Anglican Church, in Newcastle. And remember, every other Friday night there is BINGO at Orono United Church.
