Elections through the archives: 1980s

When we left the 1970s, the Progressive Conservatives under Joe Clark had barely squeaked into power. Forming a government in mid-1979 with just a two seat majority ensured a precarious position and one easily disrupted. Sure enough, two months into the new decade the Progressive Conservative party was defeated in Parliament, spurring an election call.
