It’s been a long-standing tradition of the Orono Fair to choose a young person who would be entrusted to represent the Fair at various local events, and provincially at the CNE. Those competing were for the longest time, the young women of our community. Chosen based not just on appearance, but also on presentation and speaking skills. It was the annual choosing of the Fair Queen that launched the opening of the busy Fair weekend.
