I would like to address a Facebook comment that was left on last week edition’s main picture post. Since 1937 the Orono Weekly Times has been serving the communities of Kendal, Leskard, Newcastle, Newtonville, Orono and Starkville. And if the story is of interest to the people of Clarington, we will cover news beyond those borders.
This is a community newspaper. I don’t think anyone will dispute that our community transcends village and hamlet boundaries. If some weeks there appears to be more coverage of a particular area than another it is because that is what happened that week.
We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our subscribers and our advertisers – who reside throughout Clarington and beyond our borders. Let’s face it – there would be no paper without our readership. At the end of the day this is a business.
