50th Anniversary of family reunion held in Orono Park

In 1914, Thomas and Lucy Parker with their 12 children immigrated to Canada from Lincolnshire, England and settled in Hastings, ON. In 1969, almost 100 descendants gathered in Roseneath for their first ever family reunion. The gathering was such a success, that the descendants of Thomas and Lucy continue the tradition every 3rd Sunday in August. There are now great, great, great grandchildren attending the annual family reunion. Since 1970, and every year since, the family gathers at the park in Orono, ON. This year the family is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Parker Picnic Family Reunion. Descendants come from across Canada and parts of the US to get together to enjoy a luncheon, games and contests, share stories, and to celebrate family.
