40 years of Trivial Pursuit

The Orono Times previously ran a column called The Best of Peter Truman, and in February 1983, Truman – along with the rest of the country – was swept up in an unprecedented craze for an adult board game. Trivial Pursuit, the hastily-designed board game imagined in 1979 by Canadians Scott Abbott and Chris Haney, had by Christmas 1982 found itself merrily wrapped and placed under many a Christmas tree. And many more people were, due to extremely high demand, waiting on their pre-purchased games.
