Minnie Mouse (two-year-old Aspen) attended the Orono DBIA Pumpkin Walk last Tuesday. Every pumpkin was inspected and no treats were found. She gave clearance for collection. The pumpkins were picked up by local farmers, a welcome treat for their animals.

Education Workers were back on the job yesterday after Premier Doug Ford [on Monday], offered to withdraw Bill 28 Keeping Students in Class Act, if CUPE was will-ing to end the job action and return to the bargaining table. CUPE agreed.

Remembrance Day Program for NPS students

The Newcastle and District Historical Society (NDHS) has arranged for an in-person experience at their premises in the Community Hall on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Invited for guided tours are the grade four and five students from Newcastle Public School.

November 11, 1918 – Day 96 At 6:30 a.m., a message reaches Canadian Corps Headquarters that an armistice will be declared at 11:00 a.m. The pursuit continues forward regardless, reaching a line some eight kilometres to the northeast of Mons. The armistice to end the First World War takes effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

Gordy Werry – A love story

We all enjoy a good story, and really, aren’t love stories what we all need now? Gordon Werry was the sixth generation born on the farm where Bethesda cemetery is now. When he was ten, his father died in a farm accident, and his mom moved the family to Orono. He fondly remembers Ina Brown as his grade six teacher.

Extending Halloween at Orono’s Pumpkin Walk

Witch Nora and Doctor Paislee were on hand to greet people on the steps of the Orono Town Hall.

Even big people had fun at the Pumpkin Walk. Iva in her bee costume got a lot of applause

Eighteen month old Everly, the little Chicken was the winner in her class.

Dead brides, Tressa and Sienna, mom and daughter duo, had a good time with the other ghouls.

Katherine the Clown, gave a prize worthy performance clowning around at the party.
